Round 2 of the Counties 2 Sussex league hosting Brighton RFC 2nd XV in front of a great crowd.

In a thrilling early season encounter, Ditchling edged out Brighton with a close 27-21 victory, securing their first win of the season. The match was a nail-biter from start to finish, with both teams showcasing exceptional skill and determination.
First Half: Ditchling started strong, with Nick Whitely-Jones’ early pace drawing the penalty try followed by some precise kicking giving them a 10-0 lead after just 19 mins. The Ditchling forwards dominated the scrums, putting immense pressure on the Brighton pack. Max Redman crossed the whitewash just two minutes later to put the hosts 17-0 ahead with a comfortable lead before Brighton started their comeback with a try of their own on the stroke of half time.

Second Half: The second half opened with Ditchling scoring their third try through Ollie Van Hoeken but as the game moved into the last 10 minutes there was a shift in momentum as Brighton began to claw their way back into the game scoring 2 tries in quick succession. Ditchling however managed to hold on to their 6 point lead to close the game out.

Conclusion: Brighton fought valiantly but were ultimately undone by their own indiscipline and the clinical kicking of Whitely-Jones.
